Overview
Cleaning up captions is the worst part of the edit. Auto generated SRTs come out with lines broken in the wrong places, words that need fixing, and timing you can only check by scrubbing back and forth. Premiere's built in caption workflow makes every small fix a chore.
Subtext is a caption editor that lives inside Premiere Pro. Import any SRT, VTT, or CSV, refine the cut and the wording right in the panel, and push the finished captions back into your Premiere project, without ever leaving Premiere.

What it does

Import SRT, VTT, or CSV
File picker, drag and drop, whole folder import, or drag straight from Premiere's Project panel.

Word level editing
Double click a word to fix it, click the "/" between words to split a caption exactly there, merge lines with one click.

Add and delete captions
Insert new lines anywhere, delete any line.

Push to Premiere
A versioned SRT copy is filed in a Subtext bin in your Project panel, ready to drag onto your timeline.

Click to seek
Click a caption and Premiere's playhead jumps to it. Sync mode highlights the caption under the playhead while your sequence plays.

Cleanup bar
Remove gaps, remove line breaks, remove punctuation across the whole file, all undoable.

Across all captions, with match case and whole word options, plus flag for review with notes and flagged line navigation.

Close the panel mid edit and pick up exactly where you left off, with a history of recent edits.
